Assassination of Zoran Djindjic
Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic was shot dead on March 12 in front of the Serbian Government Building. After his assassination, the Acting President of Serbia Natasa Micic proclaimed extraordinary measures in Serbia followed by police action called 'Sward'.
Constitution of the state union of Serbia and Montenegro
On February 4 the state union of Serbia and Montenegro was constituted by passing of the Constitutional Charter and the Law on its Implementation. That date also marked the end of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
End of DOS
After loss of majority in Serbian Parliament /SDP decided to suspend its support to the Government/, Parliament Speaker Natasa Micic decided at the proposal of Serbian Government to call early parliamentary elections on December 28.
Bodrum Affair
At the beginning of September, G17 Plus opened 'Bodrum Affair' disclosing increasingly evident manipulation of deputy cards at voting in Serbian Parliament. This particular affair referred to voting for the new Governor of the National Bank of Serbia and the case of DS deputy Neda Arneric. At the time of voting she was on holiday in Turkey, but her vote for the new Governor was registered nevertheless. Her case was not the only one. The epilog of this and another three cases of this kind is being expected in court these days.
Apology
Serbia and Montenegro President Svetozar Marovic and Croatian President Stjepan Mesic exchanged in September, quite unexpectedly and for the first time, apologies by their citizens and countries for crimes committed and evil and damage done during the war in Croatia.
Cases of the Hague Tribunal
In 2003 former Serbian President Milan Milutinovic and SRS leader Vojislav Seselj delivered themselves to the Hague Tribunal, while the former officer of former Yugoslav Peoples Army Veselin Sljivancanin was arrested and delivered to this court.
The Tribunal also raised indictments against four army and police generals.
Whisky in Schueller's Street
Although Serbian Government officially announced that none of its member had been included in any of the criminal activities, the public opinion was very much disturbed at statements by some prison guards. These people accused Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Cedomir Jovanovic for having visited at night the leaders of Zemun gang accused for assassination of Serbian Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic.
Money laundry
Political party called G17 Plus opened affair of money laundry accusing two high Government's officials, Zoran Janjusevic and Nemanja Kolesar for money laundry. Although they both denied involvement in any such criminal act and gave many statements of contradicting nature, the court has already begun to deal with their case/
Dialog with Pristina
Negotiating process between Belgrade and Pristina began on October 14 in Vienna in the presence of representatives of the international community. This was for the first time after the arrival of the international forces in Kosovo and Metohija that the two sides were sitting at the same table'
Resignation
Serbian minister for agriculture Dragan Veselinov submitted his resignation after strong pressure by the public opinion at the end of May. His resignation was preceded by a traffic accident in which one young woman lost her life. Minister's official car was involved in the accident.
