Belgrade, June 4, 2003 - Belgrade police have arrested Vjekoslav Mihajlovic, the deputy director of Aviogenex, an air charter company, on grounded suspicion that he extorted $20,000 from a travel agency.
On May 31, Mihajlovic asked from the owner of an undisclosed tourist agency the $20,000 sum, claiming to arrange a charter agreement on behalf of Aviogenex. Three days later he received the money, Belgrade police said.
The owner of the agency reported the case to the police, and then signed the contract with Mihajlovic and gave him the agreed sum.
During a search of Aviogenex's premises, the police found the sum in question in a bag belonging to Mihajlovic.
