Ilic pushing for elections to put an end to 'chaos'
CACAK, May 23, 2003 - Leader of the New Serbia Party, Velimir Ilic, has confirmed that he is to hold election strategy talks with Democratic Party of Serbia leader Vojislav Kostunica and Democratic Alternative leader Nebojsa Covic.

Ilic insisted that "other democratic forces", noting G17 Plus and the People's Democratic Party, could be included in the talks, which he hopes will call for extraordinary elections.

In an interview with daily Blic, Ilic said: "New Serbia is of the opinion that we should start with some kind of protest. I believe that the time has come for civil disobedience, time for the government to be forced into elections".

He insisted: "Parties going under the name of DOS are no longer DOS members, and the people have already started calling them the PINK coalition".

Ilic stressed: "The concept of the government has broken up and we don't know who's doing what and who's responsible for what. It is a government of compromises, deals and concessions."

The New Serbia leader added: "There can be no economic reforms without political reforms. That is why elections are necessary to put a stop to the state of complete apathy, deadliness, chaos and intolerance".
