Internet providers win case against Telekom |
Belgrade, Sept. 11, 2002 - Six Internet providers have won a case against
Telekom Serbia in the Trade Disputes Court.
The court ratified an order from the Serbian Ministry of Traffic and
Telecommunications that Telekom reconnect all providers who had been
disconnected for providing cheap long distance telephone calls via the
Internet.
The ruling was based on the argument that Telekom had made it virtually
impossible for the companies to conduct their business.
A representative of the providers, Bogoljub Pjescic, said that the court
had found that Telekom general manager Drasko Petrovic was responsible
for Telekom’s illegal disconnection of services.
More than 20,000 subscribers had been left without Internet connections,
said Pjescic, adding that the providers intended to sue Telekom for
damages.
