TISSUE AND SPECIAL PAPERS |
Production and Consumption of Tissue And Special Papers
The possible future disposition of tissue paper from SR Yugoslavia
Summing up all results of market research shown in this material about tissue paper production in the world, Western Europe, Eastern Europe and SR Yugoslavia, the following can be concluded:
• Average per capita tissue paper consumption in the developed countries of Western Europe is between 6-16kg.
• Average tissue paper consumption in the countries of Eastern Europe is between 0.8 and 4.0 kg per capita annually.
• Per capita tissue paper consumption in former Yugoslavia [Serbia] was 3.3kg a year.
• Annually, average tissue paper consumption per inhabitant in Serbia is around 2 kg, which is equal to 20.000 tons in total.
• Total yearly tissue paper production in Serbia is around 3.500 tons (table 6.).
• Serbia imports 16.500 tons of tissues paper yearly.
• If the tissue paper demands in SR Yugoslavia achieve the level in East European countries (which is 0.2 kg per inhabitant a year in next 10 years) some extra capacity for production of an additional 2.000 tons of tissue paper a year will appear; in other words, yearly tissue paper demands will be 10.000 tons larger than presently.
• Stabilization of political and economical conditions will increase the consumption in SR Yugoslavia to the level higher than the East European. If the paper consumption returns to the level in 1991, there will be possibilities for disposal of 15.000 tons more a year.
• The neighboring countries, Macedonia and Albania do not have their own tissue paper production, and Bulgaria and Romania do not have a sufficient capacity, which makes them a potential market for tissue paper export.
