Cherries
Poland, Hungary and, Serbia produce about 80 – 100,000 tons of cherries annually

Plums
During an average year in Serbia, approximately 420,000 tons of plums are produced. Due to a late freeze this year, there were only 150,000 tons of plums produced in Serbia. Due to high prices, exports are weak.

Cigarettes
Approximately 2.5 million packs of cigarettes are consumed daily in Serbia

Sugar
The production of sugar here in 2002 reached 260,000 tons. This is enough to meet domestic needs and, provides a bit of surplus for export. The export price is currently about 35 dinars per kilogram. In Serbia there are 15 sugar plants with the capacity to produce more than 750,000 tons annually. The domestic market in Serbia requires about 200,000 tons per year.

Sugar beets
About 2 million tons of beets were expected for this years harvest, from which approximately 260,000 tons of sugar could be produced.

Corn
In 2002, the corn harvest was expected to reach 5.5 million tons, of which 4.5 million would cover the domestic market.

Sunflowers
The 2002 harvest was expected to reach 300,000 tons

Cooking oil
In 2002-03, production of cooking oil, which is based mostly on sunflower oil, was expected to reach 150,000 tons. 130,000 tons is enough to cover domestic needs in Serbia.

Soybeans
The 2002 soybean harvest was expected to bring in almost 250,000 tons. In combination with Sunflower and, rape seed oil this covers enough production to satisfy domestic demand.

The value of agricultural production in Serbia
The nine most important agricultural products on the Serbian market were used in this evaluation, these are: corn, sugar beets, sunflowers, soybeans, tobacco, potatoes, plums, apples and, grapes.
The total value of the expected agricultural production in Serbia this year [2002] was estimated to be almost 68 billion dinars [€1.11 million].
Agricultural exports reached almost 27.2 billion dinars [€446 million].
Agricultural exports in Serbia are about $60 million per month and agricultural imports are about $67.5 million per month.

Mineral waters
Serbia is traditionally famous for healing spas and baths and, for bottling the water which comes from them. The main operator on the domestic mineral water market is Knjaz Milos, with 54% of the market. In 2001, the market production in this sector reached $60 million, of which $14 million was exported.
