Deputy energy minister resigns
15:20 BELGRADE, Sept 24 (Beta) - Serbia’s deputy mining and energy minister has resigned,, citing the government’s failure to act on his recommendation that it sack the director of the country’s power authority, Ljubomir Geric. Slobodan Ruzic said that his proposal had been based on a number of poor decisions by Geric which the government did not believe were serious enough to dismiss him.
Warning that poor cooperation between the ministry and the power authority could jeopardize the operation of the electrical power distribution system, Ruzic said that he could not accept responsibility of the power grid’s functioning in the coming winter. “That is why I have decided to resign,” he said.
