Suicide threat at Kragujevac redundancy protest
14:43 KRAGUJEVAC, Sept 18 (FoNet) -A man thought to be among the protesting workers from the Zastava special arms factory in Kragujevac has climbed onto the roof of the seven-storey town hall and is threatening to throw himself off, FoNet news agency reports.
He has refused to allow any of the workers or union representatives to approach. Ambulances and fire engines have arrived at the scene but FoNet reports that it is impossible to get a safety net near enough to where the man has placed himself. Some 3,000 workers at the factory have been protesting outside the town hall for the past three days against proposed redundancies.
