Presidential elections called for November
12:56 BELGRADE, Sept 17 (B92) - Elections for Serbian president have been called for Sunday, November 16 this year. Natasa Micic, the speaker of the Serbian parliament and acting Serbian president, made the announcement today after the country’s governing coalition agreed last night that the time was right to schedule the vote.
Serbia failed twice last year to elect a president after more than half the disillusioned electorate decided to stay at home. The post was vacated by Milan Milutinovic, who left to face war crimes charges at the UN tribunal in The Hague.
