Democratic Party denies Arneric resignation
18:51 BELGRADE, Sept 11 (Beta) - The deputy leader of the Democratic Party today denied reports that Neda Arneric, the MP at the centre of the vote-rigging scandal in the parliament, has resigned from the party and intends to leave politics. “That isn’t true,” said Gordana Comic, adding that Arneric was a party member and a Serbian MP and would continue to be both.
Belgrade daily Blic had early quoted unofficial sources as saying that Arneric had decided to end her political involvement after the scandal, in which she was registered as having voted for the appointment of the National Bank governor while she was allegedly on holiday in Turkey. Despite expressing outrage at the accusation, Arneric has never actually denied it.
