Radioactive isotope missing in Belgrade
14:23 BELGRADE, Sept 10 (B92) - A three-kilogram package containing radioactive material disappeared from Belgrade railway station last night, the Environment Ministry announced this morning.
The package, which was intended for the Lazarevac Health Institute, contained iodine 131, a radioactive isotope used for diagnostic purposes. According to the ministry there is no danger to the general public, but the material could be dangerous for anyone coming into prolonged close contact with it.
