People doubt in corruption
Aug 30 (Blic) – 'The statement by Serbian Prime Minister regarding the fact that one of his Deputies, Cedomir Jovanovic is living in the house of businessman Dragoljub Markovic is a serious warning that the law on conflict of interests should be passed as urgent as possible. Among other things that law would also define the right of an official to gifts and free services', Nemanja Nenadic, executive director of Transparency International said for 'Blic'.
'Regarding the fact that Markovic participated in a tender for privatization of an enterprise when Jovanovic was one of the members of tender commission does not mean that Serbian Deputy Premier has violated the law. Simply the law says nothing precisely. According to polls it is obvious that the public opinion is very much disturbed at mixing between the politics and business sphere and there is always a suspicion present about the corruption', Nenadic says.
