Drought forces electricity imports
12:27 BELGRADE, August 14 (Beta) - Serbia’s electric power authority is to import 1.25 million KW/h of electricity in September because of the spring and summer drought. River levels have fallen to record lows, lowering the output from the country’s hydroelectric plants.
Also contributing to the power shortfall is the unstable operation of thermal power plants in Kosovo. The power authority says it is still unable to predict the level of power imports which will be necessary for the winter.
