Hundred-metre gap in negotiations
19:46 KRAGUJEVAC, Aug 6 (Beta) - Negotiations between hunger striking department store staff and their company broke down today after the protesters, who have not eaten for ten days, were too weak to attend a meeting in the Kragujevac City Assembly building.
The manager of the Belgrade Department Stores chain in receivership traveled to the central Serbian city today to negotiate, but declined to travel the extra hundred metres to meet the strikers at their workplace. Union leader Vladan Simovic called on Deputy Prime Minister Zarko Korac to act on his promise to visit the strikers in Kragujevac.
