Svilanovic: Money laundering scandal harming election hopes
14:11 BELGRADE, August 5 (B92) - Serbia-Montenegro Foreign Minister Goran Svilanovic has said that the "money laundering" affair, which has seen accusations leveled against Serbian Government officials, could weaken the current government's chances at elections scheduled for next year.
Speaking to Radio B92, the leader of the Civil Alliance of Serbia said: "This affair is not affecting the relations within the coalition, but it is affecting the government's credibility in public. Let's wait a few days and see what the decisions will be like and when everything that was discussed at the Government's meeting on Monday has been formalized". He assessed that, with election year coming up, all parties will be hoping to maximize their own chances and hoping "not to have this kind of a burden".
