Living standards up 1.4 percent in June
Belgrade, Aug 1, 2003 - Purchasing power in Serbia inched up in June, due to a 2.7 percent rise in average wages set against the increase in the price of the minimum consumer basket by 1.3 percent and the average consumer basket by 0.2 percent, Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism, and Services Slobodan Milosavljevic told a press conference on Friday.
Milosavljevic said that the average monthly salary in June was sufficient to cover the minimum consumer basket, which cost 0.97 of the average monthly salary. He added that the average consumer basket in June cost slightly more than 1.5 average monthly salaries.
