Ian Willem Blankert: 10 years are needed for admission to EU
July 31, 2003 (Blic) - 'Agreement about association and stabilization between European Union and Serbia and Montenegro could be ratified under most favorable conditions not earlier before the end of 2007', Ian Willem Blankert, EU Embassy official in Belgrade said.
'The possibility of eventual association of SCG cannot be estimated because it depends on progress that your country is going to make. Don't believe in fairy tales! If your country wants to break world record in speed of association with EU, it can try doing it. All new members needed 10 years to join EU so why should your country need four years only?' Blankert asked.
