IMF approves $140mln loan tranche to Serbia-Montenegro
Belgrade, July 31, 2003 - The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved $140 million in two tranches to Serbia-Montenegro as part of a three-year credit arrangement, allowing the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) to boost hard currency reserves to $2.7 billion, the NBS said in a statement.
The move marks the IMF's continuing confidence in Serbia's reforms and the government's macroeconomic policy, the statement said, adding that the IMF's support is vital for securing donor assistance and creditor confidence in the upcoming period.
