Marovic announces Council for Europe
18:38 PODGORICA, Jul 26 (Beta) - Serbia-Montenegro President Svetozar Marovic has announced the creation of a “Council for Europe”, saying he believes an agreement on
stabilization and association could be signed with the European Union by the end of 2004.
In an interview with Vecernje Novosti, Marovic said that EU officials had made it clear to him that Brussels sees only the state union as its partner, not the individual republics. He said that a Council for Europe would be formed, comprising officials of the state union, republic prime ministers and the heads of certain ministries. Marovic urged the people to create “a European ambience”.
