Further six-month suspension for sugar exports
15:26 BELGRADE, July 24 (FoNet) - Goran Pitic, Serbian Minister for International Economic Relations, has today confirmed that the European Commission has extended the suspension of preferential sugar export tariffs for Serbia-Montenegro sugar sold within the EU for a further six months.
Speaking at a press conference, Pitic said that European Commissioner Chris Patten informed him that the suspension is to begin on 5 August. According to Pitic, Patten also stressed that the move is the result of structuring problems and is not linked to previous abuse of sugar exports.
