Dissatisfied farmers bring Subotica to a halt
19:53 SUBOTICA, July 24 (B92) - Around 200 disgruntled farmers have blocked all major access roads around the northern Vojvodina town of Subotica today in protest of measures carried out by the Serbian Government following this year's drought.
The crisis committee are set to organize another blockade in ten days if the government ignore their protest, which has come as a result of Northern Vojvodina farmers' assessments that this year's crop is at an all-time low. According to one protestor, the action is also a result of the way the government handles the agricultural industry: "All ministers fight for things to be better for the people in their field of expertise and for higher salaries for workers. Only our minister fights for lower prices for us".
