New NBS governor will not affect dinar rate of exchange
12:24 NOVI SAD , July 21 (Tanjug) - The new governor of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS), whoever they may be, will not affect the rate of exchange of the dinar, either, unless that is the policy of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Podgorica-based Tranistion Center Director Nebojsa Medojevic has said.
The stability of the dinar is defined through arrangements with the IMF, and NBS Governor Mladjan Dinkic adhered to them strictly, Medojevic said in a statement published in the Novi Sad daily Dnevnik on Monday. "It is
hypocritical to speak about the independence of the central bank if it is under the umbrella of the IMF whose policy is followed by both the NBS and the Serbian government," he said.
