EC warns that central bank's independence be respected, Dinkic
10:18 July 16 2003 (Tanjug) - National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Governor Mladjan Dinkic said that late on Tuesday the bank had received a letter from the European Commission (EC), which warned the present Serbian authorities that if Serbia wished to join the European Union (EU), it had to strictly respect the central bank's independence.
The letter also pointed out that the EU macro-economic assistance would depend on that, Dinkic said in a live Politika TV programme.
