Interior minister denies plot against bank governor
16:48 BELGRADE, July 11 (FoNet) – Serbia’s interior minister, Dusan Mihajlovic, has dismissed as “ridiculous” accusations that he was part of a plot to oust the governor of the National Bank.
Governor Mladjan Dinkic claimed yesterday that Mihajlovic was part of a four-man smear campaign against him and his bank. The plan was hatched, he said, at a clandestine dinner attended by Mihajlovic, Parliament Speaker Dragoljub Micunovic, Deputy Prime Minister Cedomir Jovanovic and the government’s shadowy former spin-doctor Vladimir “Baby” Popovic. But Mihajlovic today rubbished talk of a secret plot, or that the police had Dinkic under surveillance. “Dinkic was never the subject of any clandestine dinner I attended,” he told a press conference.
