Irrigation systems in Vojvodina
July 7, 2003 (IIS, Danas) - There are 600 km of navigable inland waterways in Vojvodina. According to some sources there is 60,000 hectares fitted with irrigation systems.
According to the other sources irrigation systems cover some 100,000 hectares: 58,000 ha in Backa, 36,000 ha in Banat and 8,000 ha in Srem. But even second figure covers only 5% of total agricultural fields. Even worse, only 85% of existing irrigation systems has been used.
