FAO includes S-M in its list for urgent assistance in food
19:08 BELGRADE, July 7 (Tanjug) - Serbia and Montenegro is at the list of the Food and Agriculture
Organization (FAO) as the only European country among 38 countries in need of urgent assistance in food, primarily wheat, it was said at a news conference at the Belgrade-based Institute for Market Research on Monday.
Researcher Vesna Parausic said that according to estimates, this year's production of wheat would be lower by 40-45 percent in comparison with 2002. Yield would be between 1.2 and 1.3 million tonnes, which is below the domestic consumption needs, so that wheat will most likely have to be imported, she said.
