Bank for International Settlement takes away Serbia's voting rights
17:43 BELGRADE , July 2 (Tanjug) - The assembly of the Basel-based Bank for International Settlement (BIS) has taken away the voting rights of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) in this international institution, because the state union of Serbia and Montenegro has two central banks, rather than one, NBS Governer Mladjan Dinkic said Wednesday. Dinkic told reporters that, following the democratic changes in the country (on Oct 5, 2000), the National Bank of Yugoslavia had renewed the BIS membership, and that after the talks on the succession of the former Yugoslavia (SFRJ), Serbia-Montenegro had received 9,600 shares which now cannot be used.
