Economic trends in Smederevo
June 24 (IIS, Politika) - Opposite to the recession trends in Serbia, industrial production in Smederevo raised by 39% in the first four months of this year, mainly because of increased production of steel by 75.6% in former Sartid – now US Steel Balkans. Some other large firms increased too its production.
Smederevo is town on the Danube. Needs of US Steel Balkans and other companies overpass capacities of the present port. New port will be completed next year.
By new Privatization Law only 6 Smederevo’s social owned companies have been privatized.
