Wheat yield in Serbia down by one-third
18:47 BELGRADE , June 23 (Tanjug) - The harvest in Serbia has begun two weeks early, about 70 percent of the areas sown with barley have been harvested as well as the first wheat fields, it was heard at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce on Monday.
Speaking at a meeting of the Association for agriculture, food and tobacco industries and water resources management, Association Secretary Milan Prostran said, based on reports from the field, that the yield was practically equal in Vojvodina province and in Serbia proper and amounted to about 2.4 tons per hectare, a low unrecorded in the past 100 years.
