Protection of Serbian industry
June 12 (IIS, Glas Javnosti) - There is a lot of anxiety between Serbian managers concerning planned drops of custom tariffs due to the harmonization of Serbia and Montenegro economic systems. Many of them think that such custom tariffs could significantly jeopardize Serbian industry and require additional non-tariff protection.
Such protection includes: quotas, permissions, subsidies, sanitary measures and payment balance protection measures, says Dr Dana Popovic, professor on the Economic Faculty in Belgrade.
Mrs. Popovic disapproves big protection of domestic industry, thinking that it would be protection of the most powerful economic lobbies.
