Electricity prices to rise this month
17:03 BELGRADE, June 11 (Beta) - Kori Udovicki, Serbian Energy and Mining Minister, has today announced that a decision increasing the price of electricity is to be made during the second half of this month.
Speaking at a press conference, Udovicki said that her ministry has proposed an increase of between 10 and 15 per cent, although she explained that the final decision on whether to raise prices, and if so by how much, would be made by the Serbian Government following negotiations with international financial institutions.
International institutions earlier assessed that a 20 per cent increase was necessary, but Udovicki said that the stance of her ministry was that, although a price rise must be implemented by the end of the month, it need not reach the internationally recommended level.
