Duty tariffs to Serbia's disadvantage, Dinkic
19:55 BELGRADE , June 10 (Tanjug) - Governor of the Serbian National Bank Mladjan Dinkic assessed on Tuesday that the new duty
tariffs, proposed by the Plan of action for the harmonization of Serbia and Montenegro's market, would cause an increase of the budget and foreign trade deficit, and would affect the foreign currency reserves, the rate of exchange and prices, which would have a negative impact on the
macro stability of the country and the Serbian economy's competitiveness.
Serbia's negotiating team needs to make an effort to make partial changes of the duty
tariffs in order to protect Serbia's economy using the same principle Montenegro does, and to develop non-duty protection measures that the state union is currently competent for, said Dinkic at a round table discussion on the protection of the domestic economy and its development held at the Serbian Chamber of Commerce.
