Sugar scammers exposed: Interfigo acted alone
12:01 BELGRADE, June 4 (Dnevnik) - The commission tasked with investigating alleged misconduct in the exports of sugar to the EU has established that Cacak-based Interfigo was the only refiner to violate laws by exporting previously imported sugar to the EU under the guise of domestic production.
According to Novi Sad daily Dnevnik, the latest report of the commission does not signal the end of its investigation and a request has been made to the Serbian Government that it extends the commission’s duties by a further six months because the establishing of facts “is a very difficult and time-consuming task”.
The report, based on facts and information provided by the customs bureau and the ministries of agriculture, trade and internal affairs, was signed by outgoing agriculture minister Dragan Veselinov.
