Korac: At least 1,000 media companies will collapse
13:45 BELGRADE, June 2 (Beta) - Serbia Deputy Prime Minister Zarko Korac has announced that broadcasting licenses for more than five national frequencies will be distributed under the Serbian Broadcasting Act.
Korac also insisted that, of the 1,400 current radio and television stations “at least 1,000 will disappear”.
Korac expressed sympathy for the doomed media companies, saying: “Some played a crucial role in Serbia’s democratization, but unfortunately they won’t be able to meet the requirements of the law that will be set before them”.
The national frequencies will permit successful companies to transmit across the whole of the territory of Serbia.
