Cabinet presses Veselinov for resignation
12:30 BELGRADE , May 28 (B92) - Prime Minister Zoran Zivkovic and members of his cabinet have asked Agriculture Minister Dragan Veselinov to resign, a number of sources confirmed for Radio B92 today.
Veselinov was asked for his resignation at a meeting yesterday, following public pressure over the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a speeding Agriculture Ministry vehicle in central Belgrade.
The minister was a passenger in the vehicle which careered onto a footpath after driving a taxi.
The Otpor People’s Movement, which described Veselinov’s behavior after the incident as arrogant, has gathered thousands of signatures on a petition for his dismissal.
