Sharp increase of flour price
May 26 (IIS, Blic) - During last twenty days flour price increased from 11 dinars (€0.169) to 14 or 15 dinars (€0.215 or 0.231) /kg. According to director of Danubius, leading mill industry in Vojvodina Milorad Sredanovic this is valid price for flour, because wheat of last year harvest has been sold for 7 dinars (€0.108) /kg. Usual relations on Serbian market between prices of wheat, flour and bread is 1:2:4. But up to recently there was huge offer of flour which was hard to sell. Now, mills are without reserves of last year wheat, traders hesitate to sell it because nobody knows the price of this year wheat and flour prices are going up.
President of the Association of Private Bakers Djordje Ilic stated that prices of bread would rise if the Government doesn’t introduce to market quantities from state reserves of wheat with former prices.
