Recent rains improved situation in agriculture
May 26 (IIS, Vecernje Novosti) - Thanks to recent rains corn, sugar beet, soy and sunflower would this year reach average crops. However, it’s too late for wheat. Expected wheat crop could amount between 2 and 2.5 tons /hectare instead average 3.5 tons.
Wheat has been sown on 600,000 hectares. Although its crop will be reduced, there will be enough wheat for domestic needs, thinks director of the Science Institute for Farming and Truck Farming in Novi Sad Miroslav Malesevic.
Sunflower has been sown on 220,000 hectares and 80% has shoot up what is sufficiently for solid crop. Soy has been sown on 120,000 hectares and it is in similar condition as sunflower.
Rain has fall in the right time for tobacco. Falls will also help to potato and bean.
Experts from the Centre for Fruit Growing in Cacak point out that rains are very welcome to the berry fruits: strawberry and raspberry.
