Greek Mitilineos owner of the smelt plant in RTB Bor
May 23 (IIS, Glas Javnosti) - The owner of Greek firm Mitilenos Evangos Mitilineos and RTB Bor management are going to conclude agreement on strategic partnership in copper processing.
Mitilineos is interested in Topionica Bakra (copper smelt plant), 3 factories for sulfur acid and Elektroliza (electrolysis factory). If Greek terms prove acceptable Mitilineos would have majority in the board of a new company.
Mitilineos is ready to reconstruct used copper smelt plant and to provide raw material. RTB Bor already owes $23 million to Greek partner for the undelivered copper cathode.
Once, RTB Bor was the European leader in cooper production with 165,000 cathode cooper a year. Last year RTB Bor produced only 20,000 tons cathode copper.
