EU document seeking 'stronger ties' with West Balkans
10:48 BRUSSELS, May 21 (Beta) – Chris Patten, European Commissioner for External Affairs, will today present a European Commission document detailing the strategy for establishing “stronger ties” between the EU and the countries of the West Balkans.
Brussels officials have said that the document will provide the foundation for establishing a new framework of cooperation, as well as preparing the EU membership candidacies of the states of the region.
Patten will personally hand the document to the Brussels-based ambassadors of Serbia-Montenegro, Croatia, Bosnia-Hercegovina, Macedonia and Albania.
The document will also be made available to the region’s media companies.
