Is there a chance for Serbian companies to participate in reconstruction of Iraq?
May 19 (IIS, Politika) - Serbian firms have rich experience of doing business in Iraq. When the UN sanctions against Iraq were introduced Serbian companies had works in Iraq valued to $150 million. Total exports of Serbian building material to Iraq were $14 billion worth.
Value of reconstruction works, including infrastructure, in Iraq has been estimated on $80-160 billion. Priority works in next few years will be in infrastructure, electric power system, water supply system, roads and railways, health and education institutions, petrochemicals, irrigation systems, airports and harbors and mines clean-up.
Coordinator for Serbian works in Iraq will be Yugoimport – SDPR, and Yu Guarantee Bank and Yubmes bank will be included.
