New law on National Bank of Serbia eliminates party figures
16:29 BELGRADE, May 16 (Tanjug) - Serbian Finance Minister Bozidar Djelic confirmed Friday that Premier Zoran Zivkovic's cabinet has drafted a new law on the National Bank of Serbia (NBS) with provisions that the government cannot be a party figure and will have to have at least ten years of banking experience.
Speaking to the press, Djelic did not specifically confirm this, but the inference is that current NBS Governer Mladjan Dinkic does not fulfill these conditions, because he is a vice-president of the G17 Plus party and, before his appointment, was an assistant professor at the Economic Faculty and never worked in a bank.
