New customs broom wants clean sweep
20:26 BELGRADE, May 16 (B92) - Serbia’s newly-appointed customs chief, Aleksandar Krstic, said today that his first priority would be the adoption of new customs legislation.
He told B92 that the new law would clear the way for the transformation of the customs service.
The overhaul would include reducing the number of staff, said Krstic.
“We cannot have European results, follow European trends, conform to European standards and pass laws on European principles while we have equipment and working conditions at the level of the Middle Ages,” he added.
