Export subsidies only for sour cherry and blackberry
May 15, (IIS) - Serbian Government raised subsidies for sour cherry and blackberry from 1% to 10% and set aside 140 million dinars (€2.19 million) for this goal, stated director of the Fruits and Vegetables Fund Jovo Djilas. But, because of the lack of money, 1% worth subsidies for other fruits and vegetables have been canceled.
The Government wants to increase exports of sour cherries which have dropped from former 70,000 tons to below 20,000 tons. Exports of blackberries are increasing but needs to be improved. The similar situation is whit plums which exports dropped for former 30,000 tons to present 1,000 tons. The Government currently stimulates new plums plantation growing instead of export, plum has been badly destroyed because of illnesses.
