Trucks block Macedonian border crossing
20:50 PRESEVO (FoNet, Beta) – More than three hundred trucks have blocked the freight lane of the Presevo border crossing between Serbia and Macedonia.
Truck drivers mounted the blockade in protest at the high administrative taxes charged for freight vehicles crossing the Presevo border.
The blockade has now lasted for more than 30 hours, with no immediate end in sight, and is report to stretch 12
kilometers.
Disgruntled truckers have announced that they will not bring the protest to an end until taxes are reduced in accordance with other border crossings.
Speaking to agency Beta, deputy transportation minister Dusan Mladenovic said that he has requested the charging be stopped in order to avoid queues and pledged to find a solution that would suit everybody.
