Sugar exports affair - circle fraud from Balkans
May 7 (IIS) - One of OLAF's officials stated that sugar exports from the Balkans are, in fact, concrete violations of rules established by the EU. In the sugar export affair not only Serbian traders but also accomplices from the EU have been involved. This official claims that OLAF and Serbian authorities cooperate trying to solve the problems.
There are suspicions that western Balkans countries imported from the EU cheap high subsidized sugar and then the same sugar exported to the EU under favorable conditions (without fees).
