Agreement reached on controlling sugar imports, exports in Serbia
BELGRADE - Representatives of the Serbian sugar industry and the customs authority will define the procedure for
controlling sugar imports and exports within one week, and the government will take measures to protect the domestic market from imported sugar and thus secure that only the surplus of the domestic production will be exported to the European Union.
This was agreed at a meeting Monday between Serbian Deputy Premier Cedomir Jovanovic and Minister of Agriculture Dragan Veselinov and representatives of the sugar industry, following the recent three-month suspension of preferences for Serbian sugar exports to the EU, the Serbian government press bureau said.
