Harmonization efforts applauded, but last leg won't be easy
BELGRADE – Gordana Djurovic, economics professor at Podgorica University, has welcomed the agreement between republican negotiators on the harmonization of 80 per cent of customs taxes between Serbia and Montenegro, although she expressed doubts that reaching an agreement on the remainder would be either “quick or easy”.
Speaking to Radio Montenegro, Djurovic explained that the remaining 20 per cent of customs taxes to be harmonized have been “heavily disputed” and that the opposing negotiating teams have been “fighting about these for months”.
The state union’s government formally adopted the Action Plan on Harmonization of Economic Relations yesterday, a day after expiry of the deadline.
