Sugar may be exported to EU, but will be subject to higher customs rates
BELGRADE - Serbian Deputy Premier Cedomir Jovanovic said that after the European Commission on Wednesday decided to suspend preferences for Serbia and Montenegro's exports of sugar to the EU market for three months, the export of sugar to the EU market would be possible but subject to unfavorable customs rates.
Commenting on Wednesday's European Commission decision, Jovanovic told a news conference that in the "next three months, we must explain to the European Commission how important this part of our industry is, primarily for the internal economic situation."
