Three years too long for harmonization of relations, Pitic
BELGRADE - It is Serbia's interest is to use custom duties as an instrument of protection and not to allow the part of industry and economy that needs protection, and the same is done by other countries, to remain exposed because we are not harmonizing relations with the European Union, but with Montenegro, Serbian Foreign Trade Minister Goran Pitic said.
"There can be no dilemmas there. We want competitiveness on the market of Serbia and we cannot allow that the syndrome of abnormal trade profit that exists in Montenegro to arrive here. In that context, if we define interest as a common one, and that is Europe, then we have to speak openly about the quality of mutual development and reform," Pitic told the Vecernje novosti newspaper, in an interview that appeared Friday.
