Privatization and foreign investments in trade and tourism sector
Privatization and foreign investments in the trade and tourism sector could bring almost $200 million into Serbia this year, said Serbian Minister for Trade, Tourism and Services Slobodan Milosavljevic said.
The majority of Serbian hotels, including Putnik at Novi Beograd and Kopaonik, Izvor in Arandjelovac, Lepenski Vir in Donji Milanovac, Fontana in Vrnjacka Banja, will soon be privatized. The sale of these hotels could result in more than $100 million of income. Milosasvljevic also expects that German firms Rewe and Metro invest $100 million in 2 huge shopping centers.
In 2003, at least 23 hotels and catering companies have been sold. Included in this group are: Union and Turist located in Belgrade, Srbija located in Vrsac, Zlatar situated in Nova Varos, Central in Vrbas. By the end of the year the privatization of 60 hotels and catering
companies is planned.
